“I have been with the company for 20 years now. For me, the best thing about the company is undoubtedly its senior management. Sir [Mr. Milind Kelkar] takes very good care of his people to ensure that they are happy and energized while at work. He often takes personal interest in our problems to see if he can help us in any way, for which I respect him a lot. Having said that, the work that we do is in itself, highly technical, and requires constant R&D, in order to suit the customer’s needs. For that, we are given trainings in technology and soft skills every few months and at the same time, are given some degree of freedom to experiment with our ideas while on the shop floor. In this regard, the management is not egotistical at all! They rely on pure logic—either convince me or get convinced! We have installations all over the world, and I have personally been involved in many of them. It was difficult initially, because of difference in cultures, but I was pushed into taking responsibility and was supported and encouraged by senior members. This has helped me evolve as an engineer, and today, my self-confidence in handling new situations and crisis sometimes even surprises me!”

This is my fifth year in the company. I love my job because it has brought me into close contact with what I like to call true engineering. We build machines. In the process, we are exposed to a variety of systems from a host of engineering disciplines. All of these work in tandem to produce the desired results. The senior management is flexible enough to let us experiment and test new ideas, and I personally, have been given a chance to work in different departments over time so as to develop a better understanding of the process involved and the problems faced. We have frequent training sessions to boost our know-how, and are constantly pushed to innovate and take responsibility. As a result of this, I have developed a sound intuition with regard to machine building and its nuances, and I do see myself heading a full scale project sometime in the future.

Projects & Internships
We have three kinds of engagements with students from various backgrounds.
- Apprenticeship
This one year program is open for students undergoing vocational training in areas such as ITI, machining, fitting, carpentry, plumbing etc. The apprentice will have an opportunity to work with Grind Master part time, and attend school part time. Candidates shall also be sufficiently compensated. Apart from giving our candidates a chance to study and gain hands on experience simultaneously in the areas of their interest, we also make job offers to promising apprentices at the end of each year. Grind Master R&D Group engages Students in Challenging Engineering and Management Projects and Internships. The Internships are excellent on-the-job learning experience for students.
